Studio Unveiling!

So here’s the unveiling of the studio!  It’s not totally where I want it…. it still needs a few things done, and some tweaking in terms of organizing things etc.  But here’s photos!

My main work area: (My name is from the paper letters I made for my art show…. I still need to clean up under the desk, and replace my seat cushion, and recover my cork boards for the empty wall space.  I’m trying to get away from the chaos of tacking all the stuff up on the wall….

The shelves to the left (and you can see Bear’s workstation there…)

The shelves to the right: (The bottom two are Lindsay’s….)

And, the pink filing cabinet.  L said she saw a pink one at staples, and when we went, it was no longer there, so I bought a boring grey one and painted it!  also painted my recycled work table, which mostly holds my sewing machine. Orange!

There we go!  Almost perfect!!  I’m so lucky to have this space!

Wearable Weavings

I’ve been making handwoven clothing lately…. here’s two recent shirts.  I made them both for myself, weaving yardage and then making a pattern based on a shirt I have that is comfortable on me.  The shirts are both made from 2/8 cotton yarn, and very warm.

The last two images are my “Self Image Skirt,” made from fabric I printed.  The darker layer on top is translucent, and printed with all the things I want to project to the world.  The bottom layer is all the horrible things we think about ourselves that we don’t want anyone to know.  that part was especially hard to do.

Urban Decay 2

More Urban Decay photos: (for some reason, Bloger is rotating the last two when I upload them… anyone have any pointers on this?)

So, I discovered some pictures I’ve had on my computer for a while… some pictures I took last summer.   I was fascinated with all those things that we walk by everyday in the city, thinking they’re ugly, and not really looking at them.  I was taking pictures, of drains, snow fences, grafitti, dirt, peeling paint, etc.  The things that are the history of our urban environments, and yet, forgotten and ignored.  I believe these are all from C-train stations. More to come later!
